Disney on Ice
- Irvin and Kenneth Feld had seen the promise of adding the Ice Follies
and Holiday On Ice to Feld Entertainment in 1980. They revitalized the
shows and created a new and successful lure for audiences. Wanting to
build upon that success, Kenneth pursued The Walt Disney Company in
hopes of obtaining rights for the use of their cartoon and movie
characters in ice shows. In 1981 Walt Disney's World on Ice became a
reality and a new form of figure skating entertainment was born. Disney on Ice
is a touring ice show produced by Feld Entertainment in affiliation
with Disney. It is aimed primarily at children and features figure
skaters dressed as Disney characters in performances that derive their
music and plot from Disney feature productions.

Stars On Ice
was founded in 1986 by Scott Hamilton to showcase figure skating both
athletically and creatively more than had previously been available to
professional skaters. Previously, the Ice Capades, Holiday on Ice, and
similar ice shows were the only avenues available for professional
skaters who wished to continue skating. Still today, Stars on Ice remains a unique opportunity for skaters to express their creativity and continue their professional growth.
